India tour of Bangladesh: Suspense again on India-Bangladesh series, BCB tournament spoiled the entire schedule

New Delhi: The Indian cricket team's tour of Bangladesh is once again stuck in uncertainty. A series of three ODI matches between the two countries was proposed in the beginning of September, but the new schedule of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has raised questions on this tour. In such a situation, the hopes of normalizing cricket relations between India and Bangladesh have again suffered a setback.

Situation of confusion increased due to new tournament

BCB president and former cricketer Tamim Iqbal announced the Game Development Trophy for under-age players during a press conference in Dhaka. The matches of this tournament are to be held from 28 August to 9 September at Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.

The special thing is that its schedule is clashing with the dates of the proposed tour of India. The ODI series between India and Bangladesh was said to start from September 3.

When Tamim Iqbal was asked whether the tour of India would not take place, he said that both the cricket boards are in talks regarding the series. He also indicated that the venue of the tournament can be changed if necessary.

Last year also the tour was postponed

The Indian team was earlier to tour Bangladesh in August 2025, but this tour could not take place due to political tension between the two countries. After this, after the change of government in Bangladesh and Tamim Iqbal becoming the BCB President, there was hope of improving relations through cricket.

The picture regarding the series is not clear yet

BCB had announced the schedule of the tour of India in January. The proposed schedule included three ODIs and three T20 matches, which were to be held in Dhaka and Chittagong. However, this tour was not officially confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

Recent disputes between the two countries have also affected cricket relations. Now after the new programme, the question is once again arising whether India's tour of Bangladesh will take place on time or will it be extended.
