Delhi. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has said the process of challenging answer keys is fair for all students and rejected concerns that it would be expensive. The process of raising objections on NTA's answer key is an online system, under which candidates appearing for the examination (like JEE Main, NEET or UGC NET) can raise their objection in case of any mistake in the provisional answer key.
Recently, NTA has faced criticism over issues ranging from National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Graduate (NEET-UG) question paper leak to errors in the University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) examinations. “A small clarification for candidates on the concern that the process of challenging the answer key is too expensive: The answer key challenge system is designed to be fair for every student and not just the student who files an objection,” NTA said in a post on 'X' on Thursday night.
“One challenge, benefit for all,” the organization said. If any one candidate objects to a question and is considered correct by the subject experts, the revised answer key is applicable to all the candidates appearing for the exam.'' NTA said that to prevent frivolous challenges, a fee is charged for challenging the answer and the fee is refunded if the challenge is proved to be correct.
“Rs 200 per question is refunded to the candidate whose challenge is considered correct,” the agency said. This fee is not to make profit from genuine objections, but to prevent unnecessary objections.'' It said, ''If you have identified a genuine mistake and raised an objection on the same, not only will your fee be refunded if found correct, but a correct objection by any candidate can improve the results of lakhs of other candidates.
