Just a day after reports emerged about Deepika Padukone’s possible inclusion in the sequel to Ranbir Kapoor’s 2022 film Brahmastraanother update about Alia Bhatt’s role has surfaced.

Though the first film did not perform very well at the box office, fans have been waiting for the sequel.

Recently, a report by pinkvilla suggested that the 43-year-old actor will start shooting for it after wrapping up Ramayana: Part Two.

Besides this, there is news regarding the leading lady of the film, as director Ayan Mukerji is reportedly in talks with Deepika Padukone to play Amritha in Brahmastra 2.

On the other hand, Alia Bhatt, who played the female lead in the first part, has also been roped in, but not for a full-fledged role. She will reportedly appear only in an extended cameo.

A source said, “Alia will have an extended appearance in Brahmastra 2 and is expected to shoot for around 25 days. The film itself is planned as an approximately 125-day shoot. Brahmastra 2 will largely revolve around the characters of Dev and Amrita, which are expected to be played by Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone, respectively.”

The source also revealed that Alia and Deepika will be parallel leads in Brahmastra 3.

Brahmastra Part One: Shiva was released in 2022, marking Ranbir and Alia Bhatt’s first film together, and also starred Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna and Mouni Roy, with a special appearance by Shah Rukh Khan.

It earned close to Rs 400 crore at the box office.

In April 2023, the filmmaker had announced that Part Two would release in December 2026 and Part Three in 2027, promising both films would be “bigger and more ambitious” than the first, though those plans have since shifted.
