Aawarapan 2 Box Office: Emraan Hashmi's 'Aawarapan 2' created history on the 8th day, joining the 100 crore club and beating 'Partition 1947'

Director Nitin Kakkar’s action-drama film ‘Awarapan 2’ has crossed the Rs 100 crore mark in the domestic market within just 8 days, making a tremendous hold at the box office. This has become the first ₹100 crore film of actor Emraan Hashmi’s career, which has stepped towards the ₹200 crore club internationally as it enters its second week of release.

‘Awarapan 2’ overtakes ‘Bantwara 1947’ at the box office

‘Awarapan 2’, released on the long weekend of 15th August, had a direct competition with Sunny Deol starrer period drama film ‘Bantwara 1947’. While ‘Bantwara 1947’ struggled to touch the ₹50 crore mark at the domestic box office in the first 8 days, ‘Awarapan 2’ maintained its lead at the ticket window by becoming the first choice of the audience. 19 years after the failure of the original film ‘Awarapan’ which released in 2007, the sequel has received strong support from the audience.

Eighth day collection and budget mathematics

According to preliminary data from Sacnilk, ‘Awarapan 2’ made a net business of ₹5.5 crore at the Indian box office despite a partial reduction in the number of shows of the film on the eighth day. Meanwhile, the film received a collection of ₹1 crore from the overseas market.

Made with an estimated budget of just ₹45 crore, the film has registered worldwide collections 3.8 times more than its production cost. The total official collection breakup of 8 days is as follows:

  • Net Indian Collection: ₹119.00 crore
  • Gross Indian Collection: ₹141.87 crore
  • Overseas Collection: ₹27.30 crore
  • Worldwide Total Collection: ₹169.17 crore
