Daughter. Five people died while several others were injured in a tragic road accident on Saturday morning in Lauria police station area of West Champaran district of Bihar. The accident took place on NH-727 near Bankatwa on Bettiah-Lauria road. It is being told that the speeding and uncontrolled Shahi Travels bus rammed into the crowd of people present on the roadside.
According to the information, Chhathiyaar function was organized at a house in Bankatwa. An orchestra program was going on to entertain the people attending the function. DJ and orchestra programs were being organized by setting up pandals on the roadside. Meanwhile, the high-speed Shahi Travels bus going from Gorakhpur to Bettiah suddenly went out of control and went ahead, crushing the people present there.
Five people died on the spot in the accident, while many people are said to be injured. The deceased have been identified as Devendra Dubey, Sanjay Mahato, Bahadur Mahato, Bhola Dubey and Chhangur Ram. There was hue and cry at the spot after the accident. Local people tried to send the injured for immediate treatment. As soon as the information was received, police from several police stations including Lauria police station reached the spot and controlled the situation.
The police pacified the local people by convincing them and sent all the bodies to GMCH in Bettiah for post-mortem. After the incident, angry people damaged the glass panes of many buses, pandals and some vehicles. Police reached the spot and controlled the situation. After the accident, there is an atmosphere of mourning and tension in the entire area. Police has started the investigation of the matter. The causes of the accident and the role of the bus driver are being investigated. Information is also being collected from eyewitnesses and local people.
