Addressing the inaugural ceremony, Rajnath Singh said that medical technology has made unprecedented progress in the last few years. Diseases which were earlier very difficult to detect are now becoming possible to identify sooner and more accurately through modern testing techniques. The aim of a good screening system should not only be to detect the disease but also to protect the patient from unnecessary tests and misdiagnosis.
Calling an integrated approach in the modern health system the need of the hour, the Defense Minister said that since radiology, pathology and other testing facilities are available at a single centre, patients do not need to wander to different places again and again. Also, it becomes easier for doctors to take treatment decisions when they get all the test reports together.
He also mentioned the long and important relationship between medical science and the defense sector and said that the development and use of technologies like radiology has also been important in the military sector. Techniques such as ultrasonography have been used in the medical examination of soldiers and in assessing the condition of injured soldiers in the battlefield. A strong medical system is extremely important in the military field and in the future, medical science will have to be continuously integrated with new technologies.
The Defense Minister said that through schemes like Ayushman Bharat, about 45 crore people have access to quality health facilities. In the last 10 years in Uttar Pradesh, about 5 crore people have come under the ambit of health protection and about 80 lakh people have got direct benefits from it. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, there has been unprecedented expansion of infrastructure in the health sector.
Pointing towards future challenges, Rajnath Singh said that India is a country with a young population today, but the age of the population will increase in the coming decades. The number of elderly people is expected to increase significantly by the year 2050, which will increase the pressure on hospitals. To deal with this, it is very important to give priority to preventive health care (disease prevention) instead of treating the disease after it occurs.
Let us tell you that in this new center of Mahajan Imaging and Labs, state-of-the-art testing facilities like AI-based ultra-fast 3.0 Tesla MRI and 160-slice CT scanner will be provided. Having facilities for radiology, pathology, genomics and personal health check-up under one roof will provide great relief to the patients of Noida and surrounding areas.
