Desk : A major festival related to Indian culture has received official recognition in the US state of California. The California State Assembly has passed a resolution to recognize 8 November 2026 as 'Diwali Day'.
Let us tell you that through this proposal the people of the state have been encouraged to participate in the celebrations of Diwali. The motion was moved by assembly members Darshan Patel and Ash Kalra. In the same proposal, respect has been expressed for the contribution and cultural heritage of the Indian-American community living in California and around the world.
Diwali was called 'festival of lights'
The California Assembly said in its resolution that Diwali is a very important festival for the Indian-American and South Asian community. It is celebrated by people of Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist and Jain communities all over the world. In this proposal, Diwali has been described as a festival that connects family, friends and communities, which gives the message of unity, happiness, generosity and introspection.
Light will be visible from houses to the sky
Diwali is commonly called the 'festival of lights'. During this time people decorate their houses with lamps, candles and oil lamps. Also wish for happiness, peace, prosperity and knowledge.
