The indefinite strike of farmers going on at the Kubhara Community Meeting Center under the aegis of Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan, demanding the construction of dilapidated and unpaved roads in Nagaram area, continued for the fourth day on Saturday. Hundreds of farmers, laborers and women from different villages of the area participated in the protest. The farmers clearly said that the movement will not be ended until the construction of roads starts.
On Saturday, PWD surveyor Sarvesh Mishra again reached the protest site. He measured the length of the unpaved road from Kamalapur-Vichilakha Minor to Kubhara. After this he told the farmers that on the instructions of the departmental officers, the measurements of the three proposed roads of the area are being done and its report is to be made available to the officers by Saturday evening.
The surveyor said that after the measurement report, the report will be sent to the Forest Department to obtain No Objection Certificate (NOC). The process of construction of all three roads will be taken forward as soon as the NOC from the Forest Department is received. However, despite getting information about departmental action, the farmers refused to end the strike.
Farmers say that the demand for construction of roads has been made for a long time. Due to dilapidated and unpaved roads, villagers are facing a lot of problems in transportation. He says that now there is no assurance, but construction work should start on the spot.
Divisional General Secretary of Rashtriya Kisan Mazdoor Sangathan, Lucknow, Haripal Singh said that the organization will not step back from the movement until the demands of the farmers are met. The action of measuring the road and preparing the report is positive, but the farmers are now waiting for the construction work to start.
Hundreds of farmers, laborers and women including Block President Dinesh Kumar, Rajesh Kumar, Rampal Rajput, Ram Kumar Pradhan Pati, Keshav Ram Lodhi, Prithviraj, Brajpal Yadav, Ram-Lakhan, former Pradhan Raju were present in the protest. The farmers reiterated that their indefinite strike will continue until the road construction begins.
