The team’s wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant got injured while trying to play a shot while batting, due to which he had to leave the field in the middle of the match on a personal score of just 3 runs. Ravindra Jadeja came to bat in his place.

Rishabh Pant injured

In the third session of the first day of the second Test match, Sri Lankan fast bowler Lahiru Kumara bowled a short ball to Rishabh Pant who was batting. Pant tried to play a shot on this ball, but instead of his bat, the ball went straight to his left wrist. Pant was seen groaning in pain after the injury, after which he had to retire hurt and go out of the field. The team physio treated him on the field but due to the pain not subsiding, Pant had to leave the field.

India scored 300 runs on the first day

Rishabh Pant, who came to bat at number five for India in the first innings against Sri Lanka, was expected to play a big innings, but due to injury, he retired hurt after scoring just 3 runs. After him Ravindra Jadeja came out to bat, who played an inning of 43 runs. On the first day of the Colombo Test, 85 overs were played, in which India scored 300 after losing 5 wickets. Devdutt Padikkal batted brilliantly for Team India and played a stormy inning of 117 runs.
