Automobile Desk: The demand for electric vehicles is continuously increasing in the Indian automobile market, and the dominance of Tata Motors in this race is clearly visible. The fleet of Tata Motors, the country's leading automobile manufacturer, has all types of options including petrol, diesel, CNG and electric (EV). However, in the month of August, a big difference is being seen in the waiting period of different vehicles of the company. While on one hand the delivery of petrol and diesel variants is being received very quickly, on the other hand, customers may have to wait for months to bring home some selected electric cars.
The entry-level variants of Tata's popular hatchback Tiago EV and compact SUV Punch EV are seeing the highest demand in the market. This is the reason that on booking Smart 19 and Pure+ 19 variants of Tiago EV as well as Smart 30 variant of Punch EV, there is a long waiting period of 18 to 24 weeks (about 4 to 6 months). Apart from this, customers may have to wait for 10 to 12 weeks for Smart 40 variant of Punch EV and 12 to 15 weeks for Sierra EV Pure 65.
On the other hand, for those customers who want to buy a new Tata car immediately without any long wait, there are many great options available in the showroom. It is taking only 1 to 2 weeks for all the engine options of the company's premium hatchback Altroz and compact sedan Tigor. Apart from this, Curvv EV, Curvv Petrol and petrol-CNG models of Nexon are also being delivered to the customers within 1 to 2 weeks of booking. The waiting period for Curvv diesel remains 2 to 3 weeks.
Talking about other vehicles of the company, there is a waiting period of 3 to 4 weeks for diesel and electric variants of Nexon. At the same time, the petrol and CNG Smart variants of Tiago and Punch may take 10 to 12 weeks to reach delivery, while the rest of their variants are easily available in 4 to 7 weeks. There is a waiting period of 6 to 8 weeks on Sierra's petrol Smart model, while its other petrol-diesel models are being delivered in 2 to 6 weeks.
In the segment of flagship SUVs, the petrol variants of Harrier and Safari are also taking 10 to 12 weeks to be delivered, while their diesel models can be brought home in only 2 to 3 weeks. The most interesting thing is that the availability of Harrier EV in the large SUV category remains very good, with deliveries being given in just 2 to 3 weeks.
Auto experts believe that this waiting period on vehicles may vary depending on different cities of the country, local dealerships, color and stock availability. In such a situation, the best way for buyers would be to visit their nearest Tata Motors showroom and confirm the exact timing before booking their favorite car.
