Tezzbuzz Desk- Former Chief Minister of Rajasthan Ashok Gehlot has targeted the BJP government of the state citing the CAG report. Gehlot claims that out of 37 schemes run for children, girl students and women, not even a single rupee was spent on 21 schemes from the allocated budget. A budget of about Rs 3 thousand crore was fixed for these schemes.
Gehlot said that the aim of these schemes was to benefit more than one crore children, girl students and women of the state. They allege that despite budget being allocated for the schemes, its benefits did not reach the people at the ground level.
Gehlot quoted the CAG report and said that Rs 21.61 crore earmarked for the Kalibai Bhil Scooty Scheme was not spent. Apart from this, Rs 6 crore allocated for the construction of Maa-Wadi centers and Rs 55.31 crore kept for reimbursement of fees of private schools under RTE have also been claimed to have not been spent.
According to the former Chief Minister, no expenditure was made on 9 schemes related to college going girls and women. These also include Ladli Suraksha Yojana and pension scheme for abandoned women.
Gehlot raised questions on the intentions of the government
Ashok Gehlot alleged that the BJP government is gradually trying to end the public welfare schemes of the previous Congress government. He raised the question that if the government had decided to continue these schemes, then why the budget earmarked for them had not been used till now.
Gehlot called it not just administrative negligence but a serious matter related to the interests of children, daughters and women. He sought answers from the government regarding the utilization of funds allocated for the schemes and delivery of benefits of the schemes to the beneficiaries.
