New Delhi: The torrential rains in Gurugram on Monday have once again put a brake on the pace of the city. After just a few hours of rain, the entire city was submerged and a flood-like scene was seen on the roads. From residential colonies to main national highways, life was completely disrupted due to two to three feet of water. In view of this worsening situation and the severe traffic jams at many places, the district administration has taken steps. The District Disaster Management Authority has issued an advisory of 'Work from Home' on August 25 for corporate offices, private and government institutions and schools.

The administration believes that with employees and students staying at home, the pressure of vehicles on the roads will be reduced.
This will make it easier for the Municipal Corporation and other civic agencies to complete the work of drainage and repair of damaged roads quickly.
System collapsed due to waterlogging, claims exposed
This heavy rain on Monday blew away all the claims of the administration regarding drainage. From the Golf Course Road of New Gurugram to the inner areas of the old city, the kingdom of water was visible everywhere. A severe water logging situation has arisen in Tulip Chowk, Narsinghpur, Sector 9, 14, 45, DLF Phase 3 and Area Mall on Sohna Road, located in Sector 10, South City-1, Sector 69, near Euro International School.
Vehicles crawling on the roads and traffic police struggling
As a direct result of waterlogging, several kilometer long traffic jams occurred on Delhi-Jaipur Expressway, Old Delhi Road, Sohna Road and Railway Road. Vehicles were seen crawling for hours on Rajiv Chowk underpass and flyover. To handle the situation, along with the traffic police, teams from local police stations have also been deployed on the roads. According to Traffic ACP Satyapal Yadav, to deal with the jam, route diversions are being implemented at major places so that the stranded people can be evacuated safely. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has again issued an alert of heavy rains with thunder and lightning in the entire Delhi-NCR region including Gurugram and Faridabad, due to which the concern of the citizens has increased further.
