New Delhi. Dope test can be conducted every year for pilots flying planes. The Civil Aviation Ministry is considering this. According to the news of news channel Aaj Tak, DGCA is talking to all the stakeholders regarding the annual dope test of pilots. So that it can be understood whether it would be right to conduct dope test of pilots every year or not. Along with this, discussion is also going on on the impact of dope test of pilots on the flights of aircraft.
The Civil Aviation Ministry and DGCA do not want that there should be any hindrance in the flying of planes due to dope test of pilots. It is also being seen how to make the dope test of pilots more effective. So that no pilot can fly a plane while drunk. The idea of conducting an annual dope test for pilots is being considered because recently an Air India pilot had failed in the dope test. Because of which he was dropped from the roster. Both the dope tests of this pilot came positive. The matter is of Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi.
The Air India plane was coming to Delhi from Phuket, Thailand on 4 August 2026. The plane got stuck in turbulence near Odisha and came down about 300 feet. Due to which 13 passengers and 4 crew members on board the plane were injured. After the plane landed in Delhi, everyone had to be taken to the hospital. When the pilots of this flight were tested for dope, one pilot failed to pass the dope test. Later news also came that this pilot was sitting on the ground instead of the seat during the flight. Also, after reaching Delhi, when he was taken for dope test, this Air India pilot had to take the help of others. After this incident, Air India had decided to conduct dope test of all its pilots.
