1,777 cases of H1N1 in Delhi, CM Rekha Gupta calls emergency meeting; Know 7 symptoms of swine flu
More than 2,300 cases of influenza-A have been reported in Delhi this year, including more than 1,777 H1N1 cases. In view of the increasing cases, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has called an emergency meeting. Reviewing the situation, the Central and Delhi governments have laid emphasis on preparedness, monitoring and timely treatment of hospitals. The Health Department has appealed to people to avoid crowded places, take care of respiratory hygiene and consult a doctor if symptoms appear.
Government alert on increasing cases of H1N1 in Delhi
The health department has become active in view of the increasing cases of seasonal flu and H1N1 in Delhi. Till Friday, more than 2,300 cases of Influenza-A were registered in the capital. These include more than 1,777 cases of H1N1. In view of the situation, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta called an emergency meeting with the officials and reviewed the preparedness of the health system in the capital.
JP Nadda also reviewed the situation of H1N1
Union Health Minister JP Nadda reviewed the situation of H1N1 and seasonal influenza across the country. Special attention was paid to Delhi in the meeting. During this period, trends in cases of influenza-like illness (ILI) and severe respiratory infection (SARI), testing, lab monitoring and preparedness of hospitals were reviewed. The Union Minister directed the officials to maintain constant vigil and be prepared in advance to deal with any situation. Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh also attended the meeting.
Delhi government issued health advisory
Amid increasing cases, Delhi government has issued health advisory for the people. People have been appealed to cover their mouth and nose while coughing or sneezing, maintain hand hygiene and avoid crowded places. The health department has advised people to avoid taking medicines without doctor’s advice. If the symptoms become severe, it has been asked to seek timely medical help.
