Sales of these devices started at a brisk pace earlier this month, but vendors expect prices to rise due to unprecedented demand for memory chips, a critical component of smartphones.
Samsung had said last month that it was largely shouldering the burden of rising smartphone costs in the interests of consumers. The company has also launched a long-term zero-cost EMI for Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 customers in India.

“Samsung's price increase is relatively low compared to what others (competitors) are doing, because we are bearing the incremental costs ourselves. We are not doing it to maintain or increase market share, but as a company that focuses on providing the best devices, the losses we incur in 2026 are very high,” said *Samsung Southwest Asia President and CEO JB Park* at the launch of the new Galaxy foldables in London.

According to research firm Smart Analytics Global, the global crisis in memory prices will continue to put pressure on India's smartphone market. The research institute further explained that the prices of smartphones already sold in the market will increase, and new smartphones may be launched at more expensive prices.
