What is the complete decision of Allahabad High Court?
This whole controversy started after a decision of the Division Bench of Allahabad High Court. In fact, the court had rejected the petition filed by a Class 11 student of Tagore Public School, Prayagraj, in which she had sought permission to wear hijab along with the school's prescribed uniform.
Hijab is not an essential part of Islam: High Court
The court clarified during the hearing that wearing hijab does not prove to be an essential part of the religion of Islam. The High Court also made it clear that the school dress code is strictly uniform, non-discriminatory and to maintain discipline.
