Mitchell Starc is now the top-ranked bowler in ICC Test cricket, a first for him. This happened after he took 10 wickets in a match against Bangladesh in Mackay, which helped Australia win. The Australian fast bowler had a very strong performance in the second Test of the ICC World Test Championship series. Australia won that match by an innings and 51 runs thanks to his bowling.
Mitchell Starc, who is 36, is a left-arm pace bowler. He took 6 wickets for 12 runs in the first innings and 4 wickets for 39 runs in the second innings. This performance completely overwhelmed the Bangladesh batting team. Because of his great bowling, he moved ahead of Matt Henry from New Zealand and Jasprit Bumrah from India in the rankings. Starc is now 10 points ahead of Bumrah.
Mitchell Starc Takes No. 1 Spot as Bumrah Drops to Second
Mitchell Starc reached a career-high No. 2nd ranking last year after the Boxing Day Test. His recent performances in Mackay pushed him to the top spot. He was also named Player of the Match and Player of the Series for his significant contribution.
Bumrah's time as the top-ranked bowler lasted only two months this time. He has been the world's No. 1 Test bowler for a total of 697 days, which is the most for an Indian bowler and the 14th highest overall. He couldn't play in India's current series against Sri Lanka because of an injury.
England's Ollie Robinson also moved up significantly in the bowling rankings. He took 8 wickets for 90 runs in the first Test against Pakistan at Headingley, with innings figures of 5/51 and 3/39. This performance helped England win by an innings and 103 runs. Robinson was named Player of the Match and jumped 15 spots to 11th.

Josh Tongue, who also took eight wickets at Headingley, moved up 16 places to 17th. India's left-arm spinner Manav Suthar rose 28 spots to a career-best 48th after taking 10 wickets in India's 165-run victory over Sri Lanka in Galle.
Sri Lankan bowlers Asitha Fernando and Prabath Jayasuriya also made gains, moving up five places to 15th and 16th respectively.
Australia's spinner Nathan Lyon moved up two places to 10th, while Pakistan's Ali Usman jumped 30 places to 67th. England pacer Jofra Archer climbed six spots to a joint 38th, and India's Prasidh Krishna moved up two places to 53rd. Bangladesh fast bowler Shoriful Islam was another big mover, rising 17 places to 57th.
In the batting rankings, England's Harry Brook extended his lead at the top over teammate Joe Root to 24 rating points. Brook scored 90 in the Headingley Test, and Root scored 66, keeping them in the top two positions.
India's wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant is back in the top 10 for the first time in a year. His scores of 39 and 66 helped him move up six places to seventh.
Australia's Cameron Green rose nine spots to 21st, while Sri Lanka's Dhananjaya de Silva moved up two places to 22nd. Sri Lanka's young player Sonal Dinusha made one of the biggest jumps, moving up 49 places to 54th after his strong performances against India.
Pakistan's Abdullah Shafique climbed seven places to a joint 27th, while India's KL Rahul moved up five spots to 30th. Devdutt Padikkal also re-entered the rankings at 59th.
