Discussion of the documentary and Pakistan's reaction
The documentary series 'Declassified: Operation Sindoor' recently created so much buzz that top officials of the Pakistan Army had to react to it at midnight. The series aired on Discovery Channel and its two episodes forced Pakistan's spokesperson to issue a statement at 2 am.
Summary of 'Declassified: Operation Vermillion'
This documentary series, which began on India's Independence Day on 15 August, presents the story of the planning and implementation of the Indian Army's 'Operation Vermillion'. This operation was carried out in the form of missile strikes on the targets of terrorist groups in Pakistan in May 2025. It consists of two episodes: 'The Greenlight' and 'Attack and Counterstrike'. It is told in the series that the Indian military leadership planned this operation after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April.
It includes comments from key Indian Army officials, such as Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval.
The series is described as 'an amazing story of the 88-hour war', which depicts the experiences of India's war room and the fight between these two nuclear-armed countries.
Pakistani Army's reaction
Days after the documentary aired, Pakistan Army spokesperson Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif termed it a 'comedy and tragedy'. He wrote on Twitter that the documentary tried to change the facts and re-present the results of the operation.
He also alleged that India has prepared a propaganda video, which presents a major mistake of the army as a successful effort.
However, Pakistan has rejected India's claims about 'Operation Sindoor', despite Indian authorities having evidence in the form of satellite images.
