Tezzbuzz Desk: JSW MG Motor India has launched its new SUV Hector Tomahawk in the Indian market. The company has introduced it with two powertrain options, electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV). Its starting price has been kept at Rs 13.99 lakh, which is under Battery-as-a-Service i.e. BaaS model. In this model, apart from the price of the car, the customer will have to pay per kilometer for the use of the battery.
The starting price of Hector Tomahawk EV under the BaaS model is Rs 13.99 lakh and a charge of Rs 4.90 per kilometer will have to be paid for the battery. Whereas the starting price of PHEV is Rs 21.79 lakh and battery rental is Rs 3.20 per kilometer. These prices are available for limited bookings. If the customer wants to buy the complete car including the battery, then the price of EV starts from Rs 19.49 lakh and the price of PHEV starts from Rs 25.69 lakh. Hector Tomahawk EV has a 69.2kWh battery. Its electric motor generates power of 150kW and torque of 310Nm. According to the company, this SUV can run up to 517 kilometers once fully charged. It also supports DC fast charging up to 90kW, which can reduce charging time during long distance journeys.
The PHEV model has a 20.5kWh battery with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. This model can run more than 115 kilometers on electric power alone. Its total driving range including petrol engine and battery is said to be more than 1,100 kilometers. In such a situation, the PHEV version can be a special attraction for customers traveling long distances. Talking about the features, Hector Tomahawk has a 15.6-inch HD touchscreen, 8.8-inch multi-information display and 10-speaker Infinity audio system. Apart from this, more than 80 connected features are available with Panoramic SkyRoof, ventilated front seats and i-SMART 3.0. V2H i.e. Vehicle-to-Home feature is also provided in the SUV, with the help of which home electrical appliances can be run from the car's battery.
For safety, Level 2 ADAS has been provided in the new SUV. This includes features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Warning, Front Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking. Apart from this, 360-degree HD camera, 6 airbags, electronic stability program, traction control, hill hold control and tire pressure monitoring system are also available. Hector Tomahawk EV has been introduced in both 5-seater and 7-seater options, while PHEV is available only in 7-seater model. The company is also giving lifetime warranty on the batteries of both the models to the first owner. Booking of the SUV has started across the country through MG dealerships and the company's website. Deliveries of the Hector Tomahawk EV will begin from September 2026, while test drives and deliveries of the PHEV are expected to begin from November 2026.
