The demand for family scooters that are especially electric is going up very quickly in India. As a result, a number of manufacturers are now getting ready to launch their new models aimed at family buyers. So, without any delay, here is a look at five new electric scooters that are expected to make their way to the Indian market very soon.
The Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer Ather Energy is preparing to launch its newest and most affordable electric scooter, the Konarc, on August 29, 2026. It will be unveiled during the company’s annual Ather Community Day and will be the first production model based on the new EL platform.
The Konarc will boast a more conventional family-scooter design compared to the sporty 450 series. It will feature a long single-piece seat, a flat floorboard, a handlebar-mounted LED headlamp and a wide LED DRL. One of its biggest highlights will be its metal body panels, which Ather has already teased ahead of the launch.
The new EL platform is expected to support battery packs ranging from 2 kWh to 5 kWh. Leaked information online has suggested that the Konarc could be offered with four range options of around 100 km, 125 km, 160 km and 200 km. It is also expected to get a 450W built-in charger, with an additional 450W charger potentially taking the combined charging capability to 900W.
The scooter is expected to feature a 7-inch TFT display, connected technology, AtherStack software, voice commands, navigation, OTA updates, reverse mode and hill-hold assist. Another interesting addition could be the Airwalk function. This will use the motor to help move the scooter at walking speeds.
Another important family scooter will be Simple Energy’s new Wave electric scooter. The company is planning to unveil this scooter on September 2, 2026. Earlier, it was reported that it would be called Arrive. However, it has now been reported that it will be named Wave, and it will help the company in entering the mainstream family scooter segment.
The company currently focuses primarily on performance-oriented electric scooters. However, the Wave has been designed for everyday mobility. Test scooters have already been spotted with a large single-piece seat, spacious floorboard, telescopic front suspension, twin rear shock absorbers and front disc and rear drum brakes.
Simple Energy has not yet revealed the battery capacity, motor output, range or charging specifications. These details are expected to be announced at the unveiling. The Wave will compete with popular family electric scooters such as the Ather Rizta, TVS iQube and Bajaj Chetak.
Honda is also expanding its electric scooter portfolio with the QC3 in India. It will be positioned above the QC1, and the new scooter gets a larger battery and more equipment. This will make it a more practical option for buyers looking for a family electric scooter.
The QC3 will boast a fixed 3 kWh battery and offer a claimed IDC range of 145 km. This will make it Honda’s longest-range electric scooter in India. The battery can reportedly be charged from 0 to 80 per cent in around 2 hours 40 minutes. Meanwhile, a full charge will take four hours.
The scooter will also get a TFT display with Honda RoadSync connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. Honda is expected to focus on competitive pricing for the QC3. This EV scooter has been developed specifically for India and will benefit from local manufacturing.
The Ultraviolette Tesseract is slightly more unique than other family electric scooters on this list. This is because it is aimed more towards performance and technology than conventional family usage. However, its practicality and multiple battery options make it an interesting upcoming electric scooter for Indian buyers.
The Tesseract will be offered with 3.5 kWh, 5 kWh and 6 kWh battery options and provide claimed IDC ranges of 162 km, 220 km and 261 km, respectively. It will produce up to 20 bhp and can reach a claimed top speed of 125 kmph.
It will also get a 7-inch TFT display, navigation, wireless charging, dual radars, cameras, blind-spot detection, collision warnings, traction control, hill-hold and ParkAssist. Deliveries are now expected after the final configurations are confirmed in Q1 2027.
The Vietnamese electric automaker VinFast is now getting ready to enter India’s electric scooter market. Recently, the company filed an Indian design patent for its Viper electric scooter. The scooter is expected to feature LED lighting, a TFT instrument cluster, smart key, keyless go and 10-litre front storage. It will use a rear hub-mounted motor and could get a 1.5 kWh fixed battery with a claimed range of around 82 km.
An additional 1.15 kWh battery could provide another 74 km of range. VinFast is expected to assemble its electric scooters locally through the CKD route at its Thoothukudi facility in Tamil Nadu. It is also believed that this scooter could be priced around Rs 1 to 1.5 lakh. Once launched, the Viper could compete with models such as the Vida VX2, TVS Orbiter and Ola S1 X.
