After the controversy escalated, Penguin presented its stand on this entire matter on Friday. Said in the statement that it will not publish this book in India. It is not correct to say that he has pulled out of publishing the book after Sonia Gandhi refused to make editorial changes.

Earlier, The Indian Express had reported in its report that Penguin had demanded to make some editorial changes in a part of the book and remove some parts. According to the report, the writers had refused to accept these demands of Penguin. After this, talks with Penguin regarding publishing the book in India could not progress. After this report came out, an uproar started and people started raising questions on Penguin India.
What happened to Sonia Gandhi?
Penguin Random House India said it was interested in publishing the book. According to the company, during publishing, it is the responsibility of the publisher to check the facts of a book and give necessary suggestions to the author. The company has described this as a normal part of the publishing process. Along with this, the company said that it had discussed this matter with Sonia Gandhi.
The company also said that the information about the conversation with Sonia Gandhi regarding the book will not be made public. According to Penguin, the conversation was confidential and it would not provide any further details. The company said that during talks it was ready to publish the book.
