Dev Chaudhary, who is playing for New Delhi Tigers team in Delhi Premier League (2026), is being trolled badly. The batting stance of this 22 year old player is very strange. Even during fielding practice, Dev Chaudhary was seen taking an easy catch, the video of which is going viral on social media. Social media users have raised questions that how did this player reach DPL?
Dev Chaudhary played two matches opening for New Delhi Tigers. In the first match, he could not even open his account by playing 2 balls, whereas in the second match, he scored only 16 runs on 24 balls. After this inning, people started raising questions on the Delhi and Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) selection rules. Dev Choudhary could not play even a single powerful shot. During the powerplay, he played five dot balls of the spinner, due to which even the opposition players were surprised as to how this player came into the playing XI. Actually, Dev Chaudhary has been selected due to a controversial rule of DDCA.

What are the rules?
This season, DPL had allowed each franchise to select three players from outside Oxford. The only condition for this was that the player should have played at least 5 DDCA League matches. Many members of the DDCA Apex Council opposed this rule. He feared that through referrals, such players might come into the league who are not worthy of it. Lawyer and DDCA Apex Council member Shyam Sharma has said that he had raised concerns about the rule even before it was approved.
DDCA's Shyam Sharma said – this is very shameful
On the selection of a player like Dev Chaudhary, Shyam Sharma told PTI, 'It is a matter of great shame. I was the first person to raise voice against this rule. He had made a rule that 5 matches of DDCA League would be enough to get a place in DPL without auction. I had asked in the forum what would happen if a player did not perform well and was still selected? Dev Choudhary's case has come to light but there are many such players who have come to the teams on recommendation.
Shyam Sharma said that he has asked the Apex Council to reconsider this rule and make necessary changes. On the other hand, DDCA Secretary Ashok Sharma has confirmed that this rule will be reviewed. He said, 'This rule will be reviewed after the tournament is over.'

Dev Choudhary was sometimes driven away by the club
Dev Choudhary has played DDCA League matches for Delhi Sporting Club. Indian fast bowler Prince Yadav has emerged from this club. A club source told PTI that Dev Choudhary's name was suggested by former Indian Under-19 team player and Delhi fast bowler Pradeep Sangwan. Dev Chaudhary played only two matches, after which the club asked his father not to send him again.
The source said, 'His name was suggested by Pradeep Sangwan. He played two matches and then a senior official of our club called his father and told him not to send his son, he has no talent.
The source further said that the club was later surprised to see Dev Chaudhary playing in the DPL. Let us tell you that the coach of New Delhi Tigers is Dronacharya Award winner and childhood coach of Virat Kohli, Rajkumar Sharma.
