In today's time, Google Account is not limited to Gmail only. Data from many services including Gmail, Google Drive, Photos, YouTube, Contacts are linked to a single account. In such a situation, if your account is left logged in on an old phone, laptop or any other device, then there may be a danger of personal information falling into the wrong hands.
However, Google provides such a facility to the users, through which they can easily find out on which devices their account is being used and can also sign out from any device if needed.
How to see on which device Google Account is logged in
First of all, open Google Account in your phone or computer. After this go to Manage your Google Account and open the Security section.
Now on scrolling down, the option of Your devices or Manage all devices will appear. By clicking on it, a list of devices where your Google Account has been used will appear.
Smartphones, tablets, computers, and other devices may appear in this list.
You can also check details of every device
There is no need to panic immediately after seeing the name of a device. Additional information related to the respective device can be seen by clicking on it.
Here you can find information such as device name, account activity, and in some cases, time of last activity or approximate location. This helps identify whether the device is yours or not.
If you see an unknown device, sign out immediately
If a phone or computer you don't recognize appears in the list, don't ignore it. Open the concerned device and select Sign out option.
If you suspect that someone else has accessed your account, it's a good idea to change your Google Account password. Keep the new password strong and unique.
Must activate 2-Step Verification
Relying only on the password is not enough to protect the account. 2-Step Verification should be enabled in your Google Account.
After this feature, just logging in with password is not enough and additional verification is required. This strengthens the security of the account.
Do security check from time to time
Keep checking the device list of your Google Account from time to time. Signing out of old devices, removing unknown devices, keeping strong passwords, and turning on 2-Step Verification are simple steps to keep your personal information safe.
