MP Hospital Viral Video: A very sad case has come to light from Rewa in Madhya Pradesh. 25-year-old Kalpana Mishra and her newborn child died in a government hospital. Kalpana gave birth to a child through C-section on the night of 26 August. A few hours later, his health deteriorated and he died during treatment. Even the newborn could not survive.
Some videos before her death have surfaced, in which Kalpana is seen very upset. In the video, she is heard pleading her family members to take her home. In a video, she allegedly tells her father that if the treatment continues like this, the hospital people will kill her and her life is in danger. She is heard – kill us.
After this incident, the family has accused the hospital of negligence during treatment. The hospital administration has denied any kind of medical negligence. Considering the seriousness of the matter, a high level investigation committee has been formed.
Was admitted to the hospital on the night of 25 August
- Kalpana was a resident of Hatwa village of Rewa district. He was admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital on the night of 25 August. The next day i.e. on 26th August, at around 8:30 pm, she had a C-section and gave birth to a child.
- The family alleges that Kalpana's condition deteriorated after delivery. He asked the doctors several times to examine Kalpana and keep an eye on her condition, but he did not get adequate attention.
- Kalpana died during treatment on Thursday. Even their newborn child could not survive.
'Papa, save me… my life is in danger'
Kalpana's father Ramsharan Mishra has raised serious questions regarding the treatment in the hospital after his daughter's death. He said that Kalpana was his only daughter and before her death she had requested him for help. Kalpana had said, “Papa, save me.” He had also expressed fear regarding the treatment.
The father has demanded registration of FIR against those responsible. They demanded action against the doctor on duty and the concerned staff and also demanded suspension.
Hospital said- Necessary tests were not done during pregnancy
The hospital administration has rejected the family's allegations. Hospital Superintendent Dr. Rahul Mishra said that the required number of tests were not done on Kalpana during her pregnancy. According to him, as per the rules, a pregnant woman should be examined at least eight times.
According to the hospital, scrutiny of the available documents revealed that only two tests were done during Kalpana's pregnancy and both were done in a private hospital. The hospital administration says that as her condition deteriorated, blood pressure and heart rate increased, after which she fainted.
Two nursing officers were suspended
Describing the matter as serious, the hospital administration has constituted a high level investigation committee. According to the hospital superintendent, responsibility will be fixed during the investigation and if anyone's fault comes to light, action will be taken against him. Information has also been given that two nursing officers have been suspended in this matter. The hospital administration says that it is still a matter of investigation as to why Kalpana did not regain consciousness after fainting.
The hospital denied the allegation of negligence
The hospital superintendent rejected the allegation of any negligence on the part of the doctors. He says that the woman was treated as per medical protocol and there was no negligence on the part of the doctors. However, he also said that the allegations made by the family are being investigated and based on the outcome of the investigation, action will be taken against the person responsible. After post-mortem, the woman's body has been handed over to the family.
Now investigation will reveal the cause of death
At present, both the allegations of the family and the side of the hospital administration are in front in this matter. The family is citing negligence in treatment as the cause of death, while the hospital says that necessary tests were not done during pregnancy and the woman's condition had suddenly deteriorated.
Now the report of the inquiry committee is expected to clarify why Kalpana's condition deteriorated after delivery, why she did not regain consciousness after fainting and whether there was any level of negligence during the treatment. It would not be appropriate to hold any person guilty until the investigation is completed.
