Bihar News: Nearly 100 pilgrims from Maharashtra stranded in Kathmandu due to the sudden flash flood in Nepal were safely evacuated by the Bihar government and sent to their home state. On the request of Maharashtra Government, Bihar Government took immediate humanitarian initiative and took immediate action for the safe return of the pilgrims. The Disaster Management Department along with Sitamarhi and Patna district administration played an important role in this entire campaign.
Pilgrims brought to Sitamarhi on 28 August
Sitamarhi district administration started action on 28 August 2026 under the instructions of the Chief Minister of Bihar and under the supervision of the Chief Secretary and Principal Secretary of the Disaster Management Department. The administration team safely escorted all the pilgrims from the Nepal border and brought them to Sitamarhi.
After reaching Sitamarhi, arrangements for food, drinking water and other necessary facilities were made for the passengers. The administration took full care of the safety and needs of the passengers amidst difficult circumstances.
Brought to Patna from Sitamarhi at night
After this on the night of 29 August at 2:30 All the pilgrims were brought from Sitamarhi to Patna. Patna district administration has provided accommodation for the passengers. O.P. Sah Community Hall I arranged. Here, food and accommodation facilities were provided to them at night only. as well as passengers medical check up were also done and other necessary facilities were provided.
Two bogies were added to the train in coordination with the railways.
The Bihar government also coordinated with the Railways to safely transport the pilgrims to their home state Maharashtra. The Chairman of the Railway Board in New Delhi was contacted at the level of the Chief Secretary of Bihar. after this Two additional bogies in Patna-Purna Express Arrangements were made to connect.
