Kenan Thompson replaces Simon Cowell to judge ‘America’s Got Talent’

America’s Got Talent is welcoming back Kenan Thompson, who will take a seat at the judges’ table for the Quarterfinals Round 3 episode airing September 1.

He will take Simon Cowell’s place at the judges’ table as the longtime AGT judge recovers from a back procedure, which made him temporarily step away from the show.

The injury kept him away from AGT for the remainder of its 2020 season, making the show to bring in guest judges during his absence.

The 43-year-old actor previously stepped behind the AGT judges’ table during the 2020 live quarterfinals, joining Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Sofia Vergara for two episodes with Terry Crews as host.

Fans were thrilled to learn that the Kenan was returning.

“I’m looking forward to it, I just hope he hits the red buzzer at least once,” one user said on social media.
