Pakistan crumbled on a seaming wicket against a relentless English bowling unit on day two of the Lord’s Test on Friday. The home team was bowled out for 290 runs in their first innings and then returned to bowl out the Babar Azam-led side for mere 110 runs to take a lead of 180 runs.
Opener Imam Ul Haq didn’t come out to bat due to fitness concerns. This led to backlash on social media, with some users accusing the batter of a fake injury or not showing intent. Young Azan Awais opened the innings alongside former skipper Shan Masood, with the latter falling for five runs.
Nauman Niaz spoke to former Pakistan batter and selector Mohammad Wasim. “Tell us about the 2022 Multan Test. You were the chairman of selectors. What injury did he suffer?” Naumaz asked.

The 49-year-old said, “There were one or two cases that happened. Let me reveal them. There was another player who doesn’t play anymore. He was an excellent cricketer, but he was faking his injury. During the 2022 Test in Multan, the physio warned me that he was going to fake an injury soon. And he did that.”
The left-handed batter scored 42 in the first innings of the Leeds Test before falling to Josh Tongue. In the second innings, the southpaw was out for a duck as the visiting side lost the game.
PCB put out a statement regarding the injury suffered by the senior batter, which more or less rules him out of the remainder of the game. “Scans have confirmed a low-grade calf strain, and Imam is currently receiving treatment under the supervision of the medical team. His participation in the remainder of the Test depends on recovery.”
England looking to build huge lead on day three
Joe Root‘s side ended the second day with 81 runs for the loss of three wickets, with a lead of 261. Ben Duckett managed just 1 run and was caught by Babar on Khurram Shahzad’s delivery. The pacer got his second wicket when he got rid of Jordan Cox for 11 runs. Skipper Root was the third player to depart for 24.
