The launch brings Ola’s locally developed LFP battery technology to the mass-market segment, potentially lowering EV costs and improving affordability

EV maker Ola Electric has launched its new S1Z escooter range, powered by the company’s locally developed 46-series lithium iron phosphate (LFP) Bharat Cell technology, as it targets the mass-market electric two-wheeler segment.
The S1Z will be available in two battery variants, with the 3.1 kWh version priced at an introductory ₹79,999 and the 5.1 kWh variant at ₹99,999 (ex-showroom).
Deliveries of the 3.1 kWh variant are scheduled to begin in December 2026, while those of the 5.1 kWh version will start in March 2027.
The 3.1 kWh and 5.1 kWh variants offer an IDC range of up to 179 km and 301 km, respectively. The S1Z is the first scooter range from Ola Electric to feature its 46-series LFP Bharat Cell technology.
The battery technology has been developed at Ola Electric’s Battery Innovation Centre and manufactured at its Ola Gigafactory.
In an exchange filing, the EV maker said its in-house cell manufacturing had helped lower battery costs, enabling it to offer LFP technology at more affordable price points.
In a post on X, chairman Bhavish Aggarwal said Ola Electric is setting a “new benchmark” as India’s electrification accelerates. “More than just a metal body with a fancy name,” he said, while highlighting the S1Z’s 46-series LFP Bharat Cell.
“The industry has always treated affordable scooters as stripped-down products: less range, less technology, more compromise. We’ve done the opposite,” Aggarwal said.
Aggarwal said Ola Electric has built the cell, motor, vehicle, software, and “every critical component” in-house and is passing the resulting technological advantage on to customers.
The S1Z will run on MoveOS 5 and offer features such as cruise control, regenerative braking, GPS, over-the-air updates, ride statistics, and Easy Park. It will be available in four colours and come with 12-inch wheels.
The S1Z will also be Ola Electric’s first scooter range to be sold through its new dealer-operated stores as the company expands beyond its company-owned retail network.
The launch comes as Ola Electric looks to expand its product portfolio and strengthen its position in India’s competitive electric two-wheeler market. It also comes a day before rival Ather Energy is set to launch its new affordable escooter ‘Ather Konarc’.
Amid falling sales, Ola Electric is also entering the energy storage segment while shifting to a dealer-led sales and service model. Earlier this month, it launched three battery energy storage systems (BESS) as part of its push into the energy solutions business. The portfolio comprises the second-generation residential Ola Shakti, the industry-focused Shakti Rack, and the utility-scale Mahashakti.
The company also launched the Shakti Solar Charge Controller, which will be available in 3 kW and 6 kW variants from March 2027.
On the financial front, Ola Electric’s net loss narrowed 22% YoY to ₹336 Cr in Q1 FY27 from ₹428 Cr a year earlier. Operating revenue fell 45% to ₹455 Cr from ₹828 Cr during the period. Sequentially, loss narrowed from ₹500 Cr in Q4 FY26while operating revenue rose 72% from ₹265 Cr.
Shares of Ola Electric ended today’s trading session 3.5 % higher at ₹38.98 on the BSE.
