Womens Asia Cup: Big win for Sri Lanka, defeated UAE by 9 wickets… India will face Thailand today

Dubai. Womens Asia Cup 2026 has started. This time the tournament is being hosted by UAE. Thailand and Sri Lanka have won the two matches played so far. Thailand had defeated Hong Kong in their first match, while Sri Lanka defeated host UAE by 9 wickets.

This is the biggest win of Sri Lanka Women's Team in T20 cricket. He ended the match against UAE in just 7.5 overs. They had a modest target of 80 runs to win, which they easily achieved on the basis of captain Chamari Atapattu's stormy innings of 48 runs. Today, Team India led by Harmanpreet Kaur is going to start its campaign against Thailand. India will enter this tournament as a favourite.

    The first match of Group A was played between Thailand and Hong Kong. Batting first in this match, Thailand team had put 120 runs on the board, in response to which Hong Kong women's team was able to score 114 runs. Thailand won this match by a margin of 6 runs. Today, Team India led by Harmanpreet Kaur will start its campaign against Thailand. The much-awaited India-Pakistan match will be played on 5th September.

    Sri Lanka started the Women's Asia Cup by registering their biggest win in terms of balls against UAE. Sri Lanka won their first match with 73 balls to spare. Batting first, UAE put only 79 runs on the board, their entire team was limited to 19.5 overs. Sri Lanka easily chased this target at the loss of 1 wicket in 7.5 overs. Chameera Atapattu played a stormy inning of 48 runs.
