'Smile, you are in Lucknow…' Why did CM Yogi say that now people will not be forced to cry?

Giving a new gift of development to Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Defense Minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh on Sunday performed Bhoomi Pujan and laid the foundation stone of 12 development projects worth Rs 101 crore to develop Lucknow Cantonment as a 'model cantonment'.

During this, while addressing the program, CM Yogi raised sharp questions on the development works done during the SP rule. He said that earlier people were forced to cry instead of smiling after seeing the traffic jams, narrow streets and filth of Lucknow.

Addressing a program organized to lay the foundation stone of several development projects in Lucknow Cantt, CM Yogi said, “20 years ago, there used to be a board at Lucknow Railway Station on which it was written – 'Smile, you are in Lucknow'. But then, seeing the traffic jams, narrow streets and filth of Lucknow, people were forced to cry instead of smiling.”

Lucknow now holds the identity as a smart city: CM Yogi

Speaking about the major development changes in Lucknow, CM Yogi said, “Today I can proudly say that Lucknow has created its new identity as a modern smart city while maintaining its old heritage. Today Lucknow has old historical streets as well as smart roads and modern roads of CM Grid. Along with the inner streets of the city, now the outer ring road like Kisan Path is also making the journey of the people easier.”

Lucknow becomes a unique confluence of heritage and modern development

CM Yogi further said, “Today, on one hand, Lucknow has the historical heritage of great personalities like Veerangana Uda Devi Pasi and Maharaja Bijli Pasi, while on the other hand, in the field of defense and self-reliance, Lucknow is also becoming the center of manufacturing of state-of-the-art missiles like BrahMos. Lucknow has a distinct identity in the whole world for its traditional chikankari and handicraft art. Along with this, the food and cultural heritage of the city has also got new heights. This excellent confluence of heritage and modern development has made Lucknow the best in the country. It is giving a special identity in the major cities of India.”
