Important pre-budget meetings are going to start from October 12. After that, a new budget will be presented to the country on February 1, 2027.
The Ministry of Finance has recently released the budget circular in this regard. Accordingly, the information of expenditure for the next year has been sought from various ministries and government departments. The concerned authorities have to submit the necessary data in the Central Budget Information System by October 6.
Likely to run till mid-November
The expenditure of each ministry will be scrutinized in the meetings starting from October 12. Discussions will be held on how much funding should be given to which department, where spending needs to be increased and where spending can be controlled. These meetings are likely to last till mid-November. Expenditure limits will be decided by Ministries keeping in mind the revenue available to the Government and future needs.
