The effect of monsoon is once again being seen with full force in Uttar Pradesh. The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of heavy rain in many areas of Purvanchal on Monday. There is a strong possibility of heavy rain especially in the capital Lucknow, Terai areas of the state and districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
On the other hand, only light to moderate rain may be recorded in some parts of western Uttar Pradesh. According to the Meteorological Department, Varanasi and its surrounding areas will remain cloudy throughout the day on Monday and intermittent rain will continue.
Warning of heavy rain on 31 August and 1 September
The Meteorological Department has issued an alert of torrential rain for the entire Purvanchal region including Banaras and Prayagraj on August 31 and September 1. It is believed that after September 1, there will be a slight reduction in the speed of rain in Purvanchal, but the period of sporadic showers will continue. On the contrary, many districts of western Uttar Pradesh including Agra and Meerut are expected to receive only light rain on Monday. Due to lack of rain in this part of the state, heat and humidity can cause problems for people.
Monsoon rained more than normal in the month of August
If we look at the data of the Meteorological Department, the monsoon in the month of August this year has been more kind than expected. Kanpur city alone has recorded 39 percent more rainfall than normal this month, whereas in the month of July there was 3 percent less rainfall than normal. A similar situation has been seen in Prayagraj and Banaras also. Meteorologists believe that this period of rain in Uttar Pradesh is not going to end yet. Due to the new seasonal system formed in the Bay of Bengal, monsoon is continuously active, due to which this sequence of rains is expected to continue in the coming days.
Bhado begins with heavy rain
The month of Bhado has started with good rains in the entire Purvanchal including Varanasi and Prayagraj. Banaras and its surrounding districts received heavy rain for about an hour on Saturday afternoon, after which good rain was recorded in many areas on Sunday also. According to the Meteorological Department, heavy rains are expected in this entire area on August 31 and September 1 also. Talking about Prayagraj, more than 66.8 mm of rain has been recorded here within the last 24 hours.
Heat and humidity will trouble in western UP
People of Western Uttar Pradesh may have to face heat and humidity amid the heavy rains in Purvanchal. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather is expected to be mainly clear in the areas from Agra to Meerut on Monday. Due to sunlight the temperature will increase and due to humidity the humidity can also increase significantly. Even though there was some relief from the recent sporadic rains in Meerut and surrounding districts, this new pattern of weather may increase the problems of the people here. The Meteorological Department has clarified that there is no possibility of any major rain in the western part of the state for the next two-three days.
