New Delhi, 31 August 2026: Neeraj Chopra's latest pictures have aroused concern among fans. This star athlete of India has withdrawn his name from the Asian Games. Neeraj has recently returned from Glasgow, where he had to be satisfied with the silver medal in the javelin throw competition. Subsequently, he also finished second in the Lausanne Diamond League. Now one of his videos is going viral, in which he is seen on a wheelchair.
The Asian Games and the Brussels Diamond League Finals (to be held on 4 and 5 September) are very close. Neeraj was preparing for both these competitions, but during training he suffered an injury to his ankle ligament. Due to this injury, he has had to withdraw from both the Diamond League and the Asian Games and this is the reason why he is currently taking the help of a wheelchair and crutches for mobility.

Neeraj Chopra has won the javelin throw gold medal in the last two Asian Games; He had won gold medals in both 2018 and 2022. On the other hand, they are aiming to win the Diamond League Finals from 2022. Recently, he recorded his best throw of the season by finishing second in the Lausanne Diamond League with a throw of 88.05 metres.
Neeraj gave an emotional statement
In an emotional statement about his injury, the Indian star athlete said that after his best throw of the season in Lausanne, he felt that he was slowly getting his rhythm back, but at the same time he injured his knee during training. He mentioned that following medical advice he has decided to sit out the rest of the season and is currently aiming to regain full fitness.

He has had to face a lot of struggle for the last one year. The back injury clearly affected his performance at the 2025 World Championships, in which he finished eighth. Due to this back injury, he could not participate in the competition for almost nine months and also missed the Doha Diamond League. He made a comeback, but has now been ruled out of the Asian Games and Lausanne Diamond League Finals due to a knee injury.
