The India side is set to receive a major boost with the return of Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar for the upcoming T20I series against Afghanistan.
However, they will be subjected to fitness clearance from the BCCI‘s Centre of Excellence (CoE).
On the other hand, Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel are back in the squad after being rested for the recent T20I series in Zimbabwe.
Varun Chakravarthy, who injured his hamstring during the T20I series against England in July and was withdrawn from the tour of Zimbabwe, has been included in the India Squad.

However, Hardik Pandya is a notable exclusion as he continues his recovery from injury. Meanwhile, Rinku Singh, Prabhsimran Singh, Harsh Dubey, Suryanash Shedge, Ashok Sharma, Prince Yadav, Mayank Yadav and Yash Thakur were the players left out from the squad that toured Zimbabwe.
Shreyas Iyer will be leading the side, which includes the 15-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi.
Jasprit Bumrah missed the third ODI against England in July and the two-match Test series in Sri Lanka in August after suffering a recurrence of an injury in his left knee.
Meanwhile, Harshit Rana and Sundar had picked up hamstring injuries on the tour of England, while Reddy had injured his quadriceps during the ODI series against Afghanistan in June.
The T20I series against Afghanistan will be played on September 13, 15 and 17, and all the games will be played in Delhi.
