BCCI suddenly called Gambhir-Agarkar to Mumbai, review meeting tomorrow, what will be discussed?

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is going to review this poor performance of the team. Head coach Gautam Gambhir, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar and Center of Excellence (CoE) head VVS Laxman have been called to Mumbai for the review meeting. The roadmap for the 2027 ODI World Cup will also be prepared in this meeting to be held at the BCCI headquarters.

Team India lost badly in Ireland-England

After the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, the Indian team played one Test and 3 ODI matches against Afghanistan on home soil. After this the team reached Britain on white ball tour. The tour started in Ireland. Team India suffered a humiliating 0-2 defeat in the 2-match T20 series against Ireland. This was India's first defeat after 16 T20 series. After this, Team India lost the 5-match T20 series in England by 0-4. Had to face defeat by 1-2 in ODI also.

 

After consecutive defeats on foreign soil, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia had said that the team's 'away form' will be reviewed. However, due to some reasons the review meeting was postponed. Now this review meeting is going to happen.

Players do not trust CoE

Players of the Indian team have been seen struggling with injuries in recent times. According to the report of Indian Express, many players have no confidence in CoE. Players' injuries and the role of CoE will also be discussed in the review meeting. There has been a communication gap between the players, CoE and selection committee. In view of the upcoming New Zealand tour and the 2027 World Cup, BCCI wants all the stakeholders to work in the same direction.

IPL workload will also be discussed

Many important players have been injured in recent times. Even for the T20 series against Afghanistan, 4 players included in the Indian team are not completely fit. He will have to prove his fitness before the series starting from September 13. There will also be a discussion in the review meeting whether the workload of IPL is affecting the fitness of the players?

 

BCCI and team management will also discuss the fitness and recovery of Hardik Pandya. The selection committee wants Hardik to be available for the 2027 World Cup but right now he cannot bowl more than 5 or 6 overs in an ODI match.
