He put forward the party's priorities regarding social justice, reservation, farming and the future of the youth.
Blunt stance on reservation and social justice
While giving his views on the issue of reservation, Akhilesh Yadav said that the reservation system is not a new system. Reservation was there earlier also, it is strong even today and will continue to be so in future also. He described caste census as very important for social balance. He said that until the correct population figures are revealed, it is not possible for every class to get full rights and respect according to its numbers. He reiterated that his party is very clear on the fact that whoever has the population, he should get the same share and rights.
Development of the area will be linked to the prosperity of sugarcane farmers
Sugarcane farmers are the backbone of the rural economy of Saharanpur and Western Uttar Pradesh. Underlining this, Akhilesh Yadav said that until the money does not reach the pockets of the farmers who sweat in the fields, the talk of progress will remain incomplete. He said that farmers should get fair and remunerative prices for their crops within the stipulated time limit. Along with this, to reduce the cost of farming, improved quality seeds, cheap agricultural medicines and modern technology should be accessible to every village. Talking about ethanol made from sugarcane and the business of sugar mills, he said that there should be a balance between the industry and the farmers. Along with the profits of the industries, it is also important for the farmers to get fair profits from their produce.
Skilled artisans need a new identity
Saharanpur is known all over the world for its wood carvings and excellent handicrafts. Raising the problems of the skilled artisans here, the SP President said that these hardworking people today need modern training, financial assistance and better infrastructure. He said that the government should bring such concrete plans so that the wooden products made here can directly reach the national and international big markets. This will not only increase the income of the artisans, but will also give a new flight to the traditional industry of Saharanpur.
Questions raised on quality of tap water scheme and road construction
Raising questions on the ground reality of government schemes, Akhilesh Yadav expressed concern over the working style of the tap water scheme. He said that it is seen on the ground that if a pipeline has been laid, there is no water tank, and where a tank has been built, there is no permanent source of water present. He said that people's thirst is not quenched merely by erecting structures. There should be long term planning for water supply and proper management of water drainage. Along with this, while talking about the maintenance of expressways and roads, he said that there should be no compromise on quality in construction work. After construction of big projects, they should be continuously monitored so that the general public can get safe travel.
Demand for permanent job in sports field and army for youth
The youth of Saharanpur have tremendous enthusiasm towards sports and army. Keeping this in mind, Akhilesh Yadav said that there is a strong need to build modern sports complexes and stadiums in this area, so that rural talents can get the right platform. Reiterating the party's stand on the issue of employment, he said that the four-year Agniveer scheme in the army does not do justice to the future of the youth. The youth should get permanent and permanent jobs in the army so that their and the country's future is secure.
