Bhuvan Bam faced an unexpected challenge while preparing to play revolutionary Rash Behari Bose in Prime Video’s upcoming period drama The Revolutionaries.
While the role required him to take part in action sequences, learning horse riding turned out to be a particularly frightening experience for the actor.
Recalling his first lesson at Juhu Beach, Bhuvan revealed that the horse suddenly ran off while its caretaker was busy on a phone call. “I was literally hanging from the horse, and I was shivering for the next three days,” he said, adding that the incident left him terrified of riding again.
The actor admitted that he repeatedly considered asking director Nikkhil Advani to remove the horse-riding sequence. Eventually, a solution was found for an action scene involving Rash Behari Bose and General Dyer, played by Jason Shah.
Bhuvan suggested switching vehicles with Shah, who was a skilled horse rider. “They had given him the bike and given me the horse. So I said, ‘Sir, let’s switch,’” Bhuvan recalled, adding that Shah’s horse was so fast that it occasionally overtook the bike.
Created and directed by Nikkhil Advani, The Revolutionaries is based on Sanjeev Sanyal’s book Revolutionaries: The Other Story Of How India Won Its Freedom. The series stars Bhuvan Bam, Rohit Saraf, Pratibha Ranta and Gurfateh Pirzada and premieres on Prime Video on September 11.
