Reva. On Wednesday evening, a speeding bulker hit a bus full of passengers on National Highway No. 39 in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh.
Three people have died in this accident, while more than 20 passengers have been injured, of which three are in critical condition. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has expressed grief over the accident and announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
According to the police, the accident happened near Badwar bus stand in Gudh police station area at around 5 pm on Wednesday evening. Pawan Travels bus number MP 19-P 1501 going from Rewa to Sidhi was hit by a bulker (number NL 01 AI 9213) coming from Sidhi towards Rewa.
The collision was so severe that the bulker overturned, while the bus fell into a roadside pit. There were about 30 passengers in the bus at the time of the accident.
On receiving the information, police reached the spot and started relief and rescue operations. The rescue operation was carried out and the passengers and other injured people trapped in the bus were taken out.
As soon as the information was received, Rewa Collector Narendra Kumar Suryavanshi and Superintendent of Police Guru Karan Singh reached the spot, along with Rewa MP Janardan Mishra and Sidhi MP Rajesh Mishra were present on the spot.
Till the time of writing the news, the administration has confirmed the death of five people in the accident, while it has informed that more than 20 passengers are injured. The seriously injured have been admitted to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa for treatment, while the treatment of some injured is continuing at the Community Health Center, Gurh.
The condition of three of the injured is said to be critical and they have been admitted to the ICU. These include a 6 year old innocent child. A team of doctors in the hospital is busy treating the injured.
According to eyewitnesses, it was raining at the time of the accident. The road was quite slippery. Bulker was at high speed. Due to slipping, the driver could not control the vehicle and hit the bus.
Injured passenger Puneet Shukla (30), resident of village Baghor (District Sidhi), said that there were about 25 to 30 passengers in the bus. The bulker suddenly left its side and came in the opposite direction and hit the bus from the front.
After the accident, the administration and police team reached the spot and started relief and rescue operations. After the incident, there was an atmosphere of chaos for some time on the Rewa-Sidhi road. Administration teams remained engaged in relief and rescue work on the spot.
Rewa Collector Narendra Suryavanshi said that the number of deaths in the accident is likely to increase. A three-year-old girl is missing after the accident. His mother has been injured in the accident and at present she is not in a position to tell anything.
According to the collector, there is a fear that the girl may be buried in the pit. The pit is not very deep, but there is a swamp in it. The rescue team is busy searching for the girl. At present, apart from the girl, there is no information about any other person missing.
Here, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has expressed grief over the accident and wished peace to the souls of the deceased and speedy recovery of the injured.
He has announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased through social media. Apart from this, instructions have been given to give Rs 1 lakh each to the injured. The treatment and relief work of the injured is being monitored by the administration.
Meanwhile, the police administration has started investigating the cause of the accident. Initially, it has come to light that the bulker is coming in the opposite direction.
However, the situation will become clear only after the complete circumstances of the accident are investigated. Other documents and points related to the vehicle including the permit of the bus are also being scrutinized by the administration.
