Asian Games 2026: Former Indian batsman VVS Laxman will once again take over as the head coach of Team India. Under his supervision the team will participate in the Asian Games 2026 to be held in Japan. This team is going to be led by Shreyas Iyer, who is once again the biggest contender for the gold medal.

Actually, the dates of Asian Games and India vs West Indies ODI series are clashing with each other. In such a situation, BCCI has prepared two teams. One team will participate in the Asian Games, these matches will be played in T20 format from 24 September to 3 October. According to reports, VVS Laxman will be the head coach of Team India participating in the Asian Games. Along with him, Sunil Joshi, Hrishikesh Kanitkar and Subhdeep Ghosh will be part of the support staff. Whereas Maroof Fajander will play the role of leader of the team's support staff.
The second team is going to play ODI series against West Indies in India. Which will be led by Shubman Gill, this series will be played from 27th September to 3rd October. This series will be played under the supervision of the coaching staff led by Team India's regular head coach Gautam Gambhir. Players like Shreyas Iyer, Jasprit Bumrah, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Axar Patel and Washington Sundar will not play in the ODI series as they will be part of the Asian Games.
