District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police conducted surprise inspection of settlements on the banks of Son River, took stock of security and vigilance arrangements.

In view of the continuous heavy rains and the rising water level of Son river, District Magistrate Sonbhadra Charcha Gaur and Superintendent of Police Sonbhadra Abhishek Verma conducted a surprise inspection of the settlements located on the banks of Son river in Chopan area and took stock of the ground situation and security arrangements.

During the inspection, information was obtained by the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police regarding the rising water level of Son River, the condition of coastal settlements and possible sensitive places. The concerned officials were directed to keep a constant watch on the river banks and low-lying areas and to make the local citizens aware from time to time about the rising water level and possible risks.

Instructions were given to install barricades and warning/signal boards at sensitive and traffic places on the river banks, so that no person should go to the river banks or areas with strong currents. Besides, instructions were given to keep all necessary arrangements ready to carry out relief and rescue operations immediately in case of any emergency.

The District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police appealed to the residents of the district to exercise special caution as the water level of Son River was above the danger mark. Avoid going to river banks, places with strong currents and water currents. Keep children and animals away from such places and compulsorily follow the guidelines issued by the district administration and police.

The water level of Son River and the situation in the coastal areas are being continuously monitored by the district administration and police with full vigilance and if necessary, immediate relief and rescue operations will be ensured.

On this occasion, Additional District Magistrate (Finance and Revenue) Vagish Kumar Shukla, Deputy District Magistrate Obra Ravi Kumar Paswan, District Panchayat Raj Officer Namita Sharan, Area Officer City Randhir Mishra, Executive Officer Nagar Panchayat Chopan and related officers were present.
