Washim: On the occasion of National Sports Day (National Sports Day 2026), district level soft tennis competition was held on Saturday and Sunday at District Sports Complex under the guidance of Secretary Rajdeep Manwar under the joint association of District Sports Council and District Sports Officer Office and Soft Tennis Association.

The competition was inaugurated by the District Sports Officer on Saturday. Boys and girls under 19, 17 and 14 years participated in the competition. Under 14 boys and girls winners Sarthak Digambar Munde, Vedant Raut, Adhira Khadse, Rigvedi Jadhav, Samidha Arkharao, Ayush Deshmukh, Ashutosh Bedekar, Nirmik More, Srishti Narote, Aradhya Khadse, Ayush Wankhade won the competition. The first prize was awarded with Rs 5000 cash, trophy and medal and second prize Rs 3000 cash trophy and medal. Village Revenue Officer Asmita Bhagat, Principal Dheeraj Pandey, Assistant Teacher Gajanan Narote, Digambar Chandrakant Munde, Ravi Gajbhiye, Deepak Wankhede, Nilesh Wankhede, Prakash More etc. attended the said program.
Through the competition, confidence, discipline, team spirit and sportsmanship were helped to increase among the players. The best performing players were felicitated with prizes by the dignitaries present. Organizers expressed their belief that due to this tournament, the soft tennis game in the district will be encouraged and more talented players will be produced in the future.
