Because, due to ongoing improvement work at Chandigarh railway station, a 36-day power and traffic block will be implemented from September 10 to October 15. As a result, many trains will be rerouted, some will be canceled and others will be partially affected.

A total of 12 trains will be canceled from September 10 to October 15. These include Delhi-Kalka Express, Kalka-Ambala Passenger, Chandigarh-Amritsar Express, Chandigarh-Ferozepur Express, Jalandhar-Ambala Passenger, Ambala-Daulatpur Chowk Passenger and Ambala-Jalandhar Passenger. Six trains will depart from their origin station or before their final station. Ramnagar-Chandigarh Express will run only upto Ambala Cantt on September 14, 21 and 28, and October 5 and 12 and return from there. Ajmer-Chandigarh Express will stop and start from Ambala Cantt for 13 days from October 11 to 13.

Meanwhile, Udaipur-Chandigarh Express will run only upto Ambala Cantt for 6-7 days from 23rd September to 15th October. This train will depart from Platform No. 2 instead of Platform No. 1 at Ambala. As a result, the Ambala-Chandigarh section will be partially cancelled. The two trains will run on diverted routes and will not stop at some stations in and around Chandigarh.

Railways' attempt to avoid inconvenience to passengers

Lalkuan-Amritsar Express will be diverted via Ambala-Sirhind-Sanehwal on October 3 and 10. During this period, this train will not stop at Chandigarh, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali) and New Morinda stations. For the convenience of passengers and decongestion, eight trains will stop temporarily at Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar (Mohali) station between September 10 and October 15. These include Sambalpur-Jammu Tawi Express, Tatanagar-Jammu Tawi Express (September 8 to October 13), Agra-Hoshiarpur Express, Saharsa-Amritsar Express and Amritsar-Dehradun Express.
