An accident occurred with an Indigo plane at Srinagar airport on Friday morning. During parking the aircraft collided with the pole of the Visual Docking Guidance System (VDGS). The display unit and its associated laser or camera sensors are installed on this pole.
According to the information, at around 9:02 am on Friday morning, IndiGo flight 6E 225 (VT-NOG), which was coming from Navi Mumbai to Srinagar, was parked at bay number 6 at Srinagar Airport, when it came in contact with the VDGS pole.
According to Srinagar Airport Authority, all passengers and crew members are safe in the incident and no injuries are reported. Passengers and crew were safely deplaned from the aircraft with the help of manual stairs.
Officials said the cause of the incident will be investigated by the concerned authorities as per the prescribed procedure. The real cause of the accident will be known only after the investigation is completed. Operations at the airport remain normal and all flights are operating as scheduled.
It is noteworthy that this incident happened a day after the Indigo flight going from Doha to Bangalore had to be diverted to Muscat. Actually, the pilot’s health had suddenly deteriorated and he needed immediate medical assistance.
The pilot of Flight 6E 1302 was seen by a medical team after landing in Muscat and then taken to hospital. Now his health is said to be fine.
IndiGo arranged a second flight from Bengaluru to Muscat and a new crew team so that the passengers could reach their destination.
The airline had said that Flight 6E 1302 was diverted due to a crew member requiring immediate medical attention. The airline also said that passengers waiting in Muscat were being provided with refreshments and regular updates.
