Delhi: Drug abuse has been confirmed in the investigation of the chief pilot of Air India’s Phuket-Delhi flight. After this, Air India took action and fired the pilot. Giving information about the matter, an Air India spokesperson said, “The pilot-in-command of the Phuket-Delhi flight was found to be in possession of a psychoactive substance. As per Air India’s ‘zero-tolerance’ policy in case of violation of safety, fitness and rules, the pilot’s employment has been terminated with immediate effect.”
24 people were injured in the incident
Let us tell you that flight AI 2379 from Phuket to Delhi was being operated by Airbus A320-251N flight, whose registration number was VT-EXO. A total of 145 people were on board the flight, including 2 pilots and 6 crew members. According to the initial 10-page report, after the flight landed at Delhi airport, 24 people were given medical help, out of which 4 had serious injuries.
What was revealed in the test?
Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau i.e. AAIB had today said that the investigation of the chief pilot of Air India’s Phuket-Delhi flight has confirmed drug consumption on his part and this is a ‘matter of serious concern’. AAIB said that in the investigation conducted to confirm this case, the report related to Psychoactive Substance of the Chief Pilot was found ‘not negative’. It said, ‘Confirmation of consumption of psychoactive substance is an issue of grave concern and AAIB has recommended DGCA to take appropriate action on priority basis.’
The plane had to face turbulence
The Air Accident Investigation Bureau said it was initially informed that the flight had encountered ‘turbulence’ while en route to Delhi. Based on the evidence collected and assessment of injuries suffered by the people on board the flight, the incident was classified as an accident.
Crew and flight crew members were interrogated separately
The investigating agency is examining the data and records collected from different parties. AAIB said, ‘The investigation team interviewed the crew and flight crew members at Delhi airport. The investigation team then interrogated both members of the flight crew separately.
