West Bengal: On Teachers’ Day, teachers of Bhediya High School in Purba Bardhaman district of West Bengal set an example of humanity and teacher-disciple relationship. Ramakrishna Tudu, a Class 8 student who was blind since birth, regained vision after a complex operation. The student could not see since birth
Ramkrishna Tudu, a resident of Sundarpur village of Ukta Panchayat of Aushgram-1 block, was unable to see with both eyes since birth. To restore his son’s eyesight, his father Gopal Tudu was continuously undergoing treatment for the last 13 years. During this period he spent lakhs of rupees, but did not get any success. After Ramakrishna took admission in Bhediya High School, teachers came to know about his problem. For about a year, the teachers of the school kept trying at their level to find out how the student could be treated and his eyesight could be restored.
The treatment cost Rs 1.50 lakh
After this, the head teacher in-charge of the school, Navkumar Ghosh took the initiative. Arrangements were made for Ramakrishna’s treatment in a private nursing home in Kolkata. Last Monday, a complex surgery was performed on his eye. The treatment cost about Rs 1 lakh 50 thousand, which was borne by head teacher Navkumar Ghosh from his savings. After the operation, Ramakrishna is currently able to see with one eye. Teacher’s Day celebration was organized in Bhediya High School on Saturday. Ramakrishna’s father Gopal Tudu was also present at the function. During this, the head teacher in-charge of the school, Navkumar Ghosh honored him on the stage. Gopal Tudu became emotional as he recounted the teacher’s role in restoring his son’s eyesight and tears welled up in his eyes. He expressed his gratitude and respect towards the teacher.
Gopal Tudu said that despite trying for a long time for his son’s treatment, when no solution was found, the school teachers stood by him. The head teacher spent his savings and arranged for his son’s treatment, for which he will always be grateful.
