An incident of murder has come to light from Guwahati, the capital of Assam, which has created a sensation in the area. Here a young man has been accused of murdering his wife and cutting her body into pieces and hiding them in the house. Police found the woman’s body in the flat, while her head was kept inside a polythene bag in the refrigerator. After the matter came to light, the absconding accused surrendered before the police.
The accused has been identified as 30-year-old Ramanuj Goswami. According to the police, the name of the deceased was 25-year-old Riya Talukdar. Both of them got married only a few months ago and lived together in an apartment located in Hatigaon police station area of Guwahati.
The wedding took place only a few months ago
Local people became suspicious due to the continuous strong smell coming from the couple’s flat. It was told that both of them were not seen for the last two days and their mobile phones were also switched off. After this, local residents informed Hatigaon police, after which the police team reached the spot. An attempt was made to open the door of the flat, but as it was locked from inside, the police broke it and entered. Even the police were surprised to see the inside scene.
Police found Riya’s mutilated body inside the flat. According to initial information, some of his fingers were also cut. The head was missing from the dead body and it had started rotting. After this, the police searched the entire flat, after which Riya’s head was found in a polythene bag in the fridge. Initial estimates are that the murder may have taken place about 24 to 48 hours before the body was found.
The accused surrendered before the police
The police have taken the body and head into custody and sent it for post-mortem. At the same time, husband Ramanuj Goswami, who was absconding after the incident, surrendered before the police. After this he has been arrested and interrogation has been started.

The police have not yet revealed the reason behind the murder. Information about the circumstances of the accused’s surrender has also not been revealed.
