Satya Niketan accident case reaches High Court, demand for Rs 1 crore compensation

A petition has been filed in the Delhi High Court demanding investigation into the sudden collapse of the building in Satya Niketan area of ​​South Delhi and a compensation of Rs 1 crore each to the families of the deceased students. The High Court has agreed to hear this petition.

On Monday, the lawyer appearing for the petitioner made a mention before the bench headed by Chief Justice DK Upadhyay and demanded hearing on the petition, after which the court gave assurance of hearing. The petition has been filed by law student Aniket Kumar Gupta. The petition demands that an investigation be conducted into the Satya Niketan building accident. A demand has been made to give compensation of Rs 1 crore each to the families of the students who died in the accident. It has also been demanded that the students injured in this accident should be provided medical facilities and the affected students should be rehabilitated at safe places. Structural audit of paying guests (PG) and hostels in Delhi should be conducted so that dangerous places can be identified.

It has been said in the petition that the “Hostel Daze Boys PG” where the accident took place is near the South Campus of Delhi University and is a student hub. This PG had five floors apart from the basement. This accident happened on September 6 at 1.30 pm, after which many students got buried under the debris. The petition has mentioned the statement of AIIMS Hospital in which it has been said about the death of five students.

It has been said in the petition that the cause of this accident should be investigated and accountability should be fixed. It should be investigated whether the concerned PG had a valid license or not and whether it was allowed to operate or not.
