New Delhi. Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, has achieved success in the National Clean Air Program-2026 and the city has achieved two achievements. As National Clean Air City, Lucknow has got the number one rank in the country among the cities with population of more than 10 lakh. This means that Lucknow has the cleanest air compared to all other cities in the country. Lucknow has secured the first position in this matter, leaving behind Madhya Pradesh city Indore. Whereas ward number 70 Paper Mill Colony, located in Zone-4 of Lucknow Municipal Corporation, has been selected as the best ward in Category-1 of wards with population more than 30 thousand.
For this, a cash prize of Rs 1.50 crore was given to Lucknow Municipal Corporation and Rs 50 lakh was also given to Ward-70. Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal, Municipal Commissioner Gaurav Kumar, Additional Municipal Commissioner Pankaj Srivastava and Environmental Engineer Sanjeev Pradhan received this honor in a ceremony organized at Indira Paryavaran Bhawan, New Delhi. After this, Mayor Kharkwal met Lucknow MP and Union Minister Rajnath Singh and informed about these two glorious achievements. At the same time, Rajnath Singh has congratulated all the people of Lucknow and praised the Municipal Corporation team for this achievement. Let us tell you that last year Lucknow was at number 15 among the cleanest cities and this year it has taken a huge leap and reached straight to the top.
