Sa Pa has been included in the list alongside Bagan in Myanmar, Coron in the Philippines, Sumatra in Indonesia, and Chiang Mai in Thailand.

The recognition follows several international accolades. In 2023, Condé Nast Traveler named Sa Pa among the world’s 50 most beautiful small towns. In 2024, it ranked among TripAdvisor’s five trending destinations worldwide, while Condé Nast Traveler again included it on its list of 53 of the world’s most beautiful small towns in early 2026.

Reaching Fansipan once required a trek lasting several days. Since the Sun World Fansipan Legend cable car opened in 2016, the summit has become accessible to more visitors, including children and elderly travelers.
Visitors first take the Muong Hoa funicular through the valley and terraced rice fields before continuing by three-rope cable car over Hoang Lien National Park to the summit.

Tourism around Fansipan has expanded beyond the summit. Ban May Village showcases the cultures of ethnic communities in northwestern Vietnam through traditional houses, handicrafts, festivals, folk performances, and local cuisine.
At Cloud Yard, 3,063 meters above sea level, Starbucks Fansipan opened in March 2026, offering views of the Hoang Lien Son range and surrounding clouds.
The mountain is also home to a spiritual and cultural complex featuring Kim Son Bao Thang Pagoda, a giant Amitabha Buddha statue, and a path lined with Arhat statues.
Sa Pa has also added new accommodation options, including Hotel de la Coupole – MGallery Sa Pa, designed by architect Bill Bensley. The hotel combines French haute couture influences with colors and patterns associated with ethnic communities in northwestern Vietnam.
