By-Elections Announced For 6 Seats Across 4 States: By-elections announced for 6 seats in 4 states, know when will the voting take place, on which day will the results come?


New Delhi. The Election Commission has announced by-elections on 6 vacant seats in 4 states. Out of these 6, 5 seats are of Assembly while 1 seat is of Lok Sabha. These seats had become vacant due to the resignation of MLAs and MPs. Now the Election Commission has announced the schedule for re-election on these seats. Voting will be held for 2 assembly seats of Tamil Nadu, 2 of West Bengal and 1 assembly seat of Puducherry. Voting will be held for 1 Lok Sabha seat in Assam. Voting on all these 6 seats will be held on October 6, 2026. After voting, the counting of votes will be done on October 9, 2026 and the results will be declared on the same day.

Madurantakam assembly seat, Tamil Nadu

– Dharapuram Assembly seat, Tamil Nadu

– Rejinagar assembly seat, West Bengal

– Nandigram Assembly seat, West Bengal

– Thattanchavady Assembly seat, Puducherry

Lok Sabha seat on which by-election will be held

By-election is to be held on Nagaon Lok Sabha seat of Assam. Pradyut Bordoloi was the MP from Congress party here. He had resigned in March this year alleging neglect in the party and joined BJP. By-elections are being held from there due to Bordoloi's resignation.

According to the Election Commission, notification for by-elections on all the above seats will be issued on September 9, 2026. The last date for filing nomination forms will be September 16, 2026. Whereas the scrutiny of nomination papers will be done on September 17, 2026. Candidates will be able to withdraw their names till September 19, 2026. After this, voting will take place on October 6, 2026. The result will be declared after counting of votes on October 9, 2026.
